The Chief Engineer is responsible for ensuring proper operations, maintenance, service, and repair of all equipment, supporting Aimbridge Hospitality's goals of guest satisfaction, cost control, and profitability. Responsibilities include overseeing and participating in the Preventative Maintenance program to ensure all rooms and public spaces meet company standards. Management-level associates are expected to work as much of each workday as necessary to complete their responsibilities; for OEM associates, overtime applies and is calculated accordingly.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field; or a 2-year college degree with 3+ years of related experience; or a 4-year college degree with at least 2 years of related experience.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Current certifications as required by relevant authorities (e.g., HVAC, pool operation, electrical), property-specific.
  • Valid licenses to operate and repair hotel boilers and chillers as per local legislation.
  • Valid driver's license for the applicable state.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to evaluate and select among alternative actions quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to work well under stress and maintain composure.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to understand complex information and data.
  • Effective listening and conflict resolution skills.
  • Basic arithmetic and financial understanding.

Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive, friendly, and courteous service to guests and employees.
  • Maintain regular attendance and high standards of appearance and grooming.
  • Comply with all company standards and safety regulations.
  • Train, supervise, and evaluate engineering staff; handle scheduling and payroll.
  • Focus on guest service and departmental contributions to guest satisfaction scores.
  • Manage budgets, energy conservation, safety inspections, and preventative maintenance.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
  • Maintain operational manuals, warranty agreements, and safety protocols.
  • Conduct property tours, safety drills, and staff meetings.
  • Handle sensitive areas and information responsibly, including keys and guest data.
  • Support other departments with maintenance and safety standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
