Human Resources Intern

Description:

The Water Institute is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Human Resources Intern to support our HR team in managing day-to-day office operations, developing and refining HR processes, and identifying and implementing initiatives aimed at enhancing employee satisfaction. This is a great opportunity for a student interested in gaining real-world HR experience in a dynamic work environment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with general office management tasks, including supply coordination, document organization, and general tasks.
  • Support the development and documentation of HR processes, such as onboarding, performance reviews, and training programs.
  • Participate in the research, planning, and implementation of employee engagement and satisfaction strategies.
  • Help gather and analyze employee feedback to identify areas for improvement.
  • Assist with internal communications related to HR initiatives and events.
  • Develop and maintain job requirements, job descriptions, and pay grades for all positions, as needed.
  • Maintain company organization charts and the employee directory.
  • Maintain human resource information system records and compile reports from the database.
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
  • Perform other HR-related administrative duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools.
  • A team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Workload will vary from week to week, and candidates will be flexible and willing to occasionally travel to our New Orleans office, to meetings, and to run errands.

We are headquartered in Baton Rouge and the position will be located at our main office in Baton Rouge. The pay for the position is $15.00 per hour. We believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current staff as part of any final offer. We also offer a generous benefits package for full-time exempt positions.
