Process Improvement Engineer

Description:

Successful candidates will demonstrate expertise in multiple technology areas or applications, using expertise to develop value-creating solutions for our products or production assets. Functions independently in the area of technical expertise; initiates and drives programs and identifies needed resources; receives limited guidance from supervisor; has demonstrated the ability to resolve conflicting demands to achieve program goals and objectives; works across both the current group and external groups within R&D and MT to deliver technical solutions; solves process issues and knows when to seek additional support; recognized in the Business/Workgroup as a technology SME; solves more diverse and challenging problems due to changing priorities or differing situations.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop & drive improvement initiatives and metrics at the Site and across the network as appropriate.
  • A key resource for process technology problems at the site.
  • Execute Process Safety Dust & Process Hazard Analyses and lead implementation of required follow-up.
  • Identify, develop/execute medium to longer-term, non-CapEx projects for productivity (cost & capacity), yield, quality, and sustainability improvement.
  • Execute early Front-End Loading (FEL) activity on appropriate CapEx projects (Grow & Improve, quality improvement, etc.) to include business case & scope development. Support detailed design, lead commissioning & start-up activities, and return to operations (RTO) as appropriate.
  • Develop & own site mass balances & models to understand yield improvement and debottlenecking opportunities.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions to address longer-term production issues.
  • Work with HPMC Technology Guardian to support process technology development.
  • Liaison with other sites within the network to leverage knowledge & experience as required to resolve issues.
  • Ability to statistically model process data to identify trends & changes, causes of variation, and opportunities for improvement.

Required Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor of Science or higher in Chemical Engineering is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 to 5 years' experience in manufacturing and engineering preferably in an Operations or Technology role.
  • Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt) certification is desirable but not required
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. for any employer now and in the future.
