General Summary
The F&B Associate works on a part-time basis, preparing and selling food. The individual must stock light inventory, operate a cash register, count cash, clean work areas, prepare and serve fast food items to the general public. In addition, a well-groomed sanitary presentation is required.

Requirements and Job Specifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid LA Class E driver's license (Liquor license if required)
  • General experience in food service industry, customer service and retail services.
  • minimal mathematical skill is required to count change, perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Functions and Duties

This is a routine position in souvenir shop stands, snack bars and concession stands, reporting to the Concessions Supervisor.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Storing, taking inventory, stocking and selling food and non-food items.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing work areas: tables, chairs, countertops, storage areas and floors.
  • Preparing and serving food according to standardized practice, adhering to BREC sanitary standards and health and safety regulations.
  • Cleaning and maintaining displays.
  • Operating electronic cash register, counting and remitting cash receipts, opening and locking up shop or stand.
  • Mopping floor, unloading, and shifting supplies.
  • The concession clerk must be able to follow routine food preparation and service procedures, and to carry out simple instruction form the supervisor.

Supplemental Information

As scheduled, up to 29 hours per week of rotating days including evening and weekend work as required.

CREDIT UNION: Part-time employees are eligible to participate in the Baton Rouge City Parish Employee's Federal Credit Union. Eligibility and rates are determined by the credit union governing board.

EMPLOYEE/FACILITY PRIVILEGE: BREC employees who actively participate in BREC programs gain a better knowledge and understanding of facility needs. This generates understanding and cooperation in interdepartmental needs. Some restrictions may apply.
PAID TIME OFF: Part-time employees who work a minimum of 29 hours per week and at least 1,000 hours will be eligible to accrue Paid Time Off (PTO) hours. The purpose of the "Paid Time Off" benefit is to allow part time employees greater flexibility to take time off for vacation, sick and/or personal time. The maximum accrual is 40 hours per fiscal year. Once employees reach the cap, the employee will not accumulate any more PTO until some of the time in the account is utilized. After the balance goes below the maximum, the employee will begin accruing PTO again. Except for illness, employees are required to obtain supervisor approval in advance for the time off.

PSLF: BREC is a qualifying employer for public service loan forgiveness. Employees who have Federal Direct Loans and have made 120 payments on the Federal Direct Loans (after Oct. 1, 2007) may be eligible for the remaining loan balance to be forgiven.
