Assistant Professor, Health Care Administration

The full-time, non-administrative Assistant Professor holds either 10-month or 12-month appointments with all rights and responsibilities of faculty appointment. Primary responsibility for faculty focuses on providing instruction and an effective environment for student learning, service and scholarship. Full-time faculty may serve in clinical or non-clinical programs where appropriate.

Responsibilities

Job Standards and Performance Expectations

  1. Mission Engagement
    1. Actively engages in the Catholic and Franciscan mission and identity of Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University by modeling the Franciscan Values, promoting justice from the communities we serve, and integrating the Catholic and Franciscan intellectual traditions in courses, programs, and services.
  2. Academic
    1. Prepares instruction that reflects stated course student learning outcomes
    2. Construct classroom materials that support the goals of the course
    3. Prepare thoroughly for each instructional hour; Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
    4. Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance, post grades in a timely manner
  3. Teaching
    1. Implements curricular and instructional interventions
    2. Develops student learning outcomes
    3. Utilizes peer review and coaching
    4. Applies what has been learned from formative and summative feedback on instruction
    5. Engages in professional development activities to promote development in the scholarship of teaching and learning
  4. Advising
    1. Reflects on summative students' evaluation of academic advising experience
    2. Assesses reports and perceptions of peers and others regarding fidelity to academic advising roles and responsibilities
  5. Contribution to role-related knowledge base
    1. Presents at local, state, national and/or international professional conferences
  6. Professional Service
    1. Participates in local, state, national, or international professional agencies
  7. Community Service
    1. Actively participates in community groups and organizations, as related to the College's mission
  8. Institutional Service
    1. Participates in committee work at the program, school, or institutional level (delineate roles and nature of participation)
  9. Student Engagement
    1. Advises students through feedback, coaching, remediation, and engagement
  10. Other Duties as Assigned
    1. Other duties as assigned or required

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE

At least one (1) year of teaching experience, preferred

EDUCATION

Master's Degree or successful completion of 18 credit hours; Graduate study in the specific discipline

SPECIAL SKILLS

Strong organizational and communication skills
