The Role The Sr Network Inventory GIS Engineer acts as a subject matter expert for the organization's GIS network inventory. This role is responsible for managing medium to large network GIS inventory projects (data conversion, data migration, data cleanse), network inventory feature development, network inventory defect identification, new technology modeling, training, and general support of peer organizations use of GIS network inventory. Also responsible for creating, modifying, researching, and maintaining various types of geospatial data (polygons, KMZ, SHP) and portal map development.Location This is a work from home position within the U.S.The Main Responsibilities Support the construction, maintenance and evolution of Lumen's GIS planning platformTranslate network, demand, and implementation data structures into front‑end map‑based visualizationCreate new data pipelines for GIS data structures to be ingested into apps based on business use casesLead key AI/ML initiative in delivering Locate Cost Avoidance/Recovery effortsHandle all system management and lead data for locating, including scriptingDesign and integrate databases from geographical specificationsModify existing GIS systems and adapt new hardware and technology to support program performanceApply mathematics and scientific approaches to create schemas and models for GIS program designsWhat We Look For in a Candidate Bachelor's degree in Geography, Computer Science, or a related field4+ years of experience in GIS engineering, analysis, or network inventoryMust have basic Alteryx experienceStrong understanding of GIS concepts, technologies, and tools, including ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS, Mapinfo, and open‑source GIS toolsExperience with GIS analysis, including spatial analysis, network analysis, and data visualizationExperience with OSP network inventory systems (3GIS, GE Smallworld, OSPI)Experience with CAD softwareAdvanced MS Office skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and TeamsExcellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a teamCompensation This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data.
